SNC-Lavalin ranked among Top 10 socially responsible businesses in Canada
MONTREAL, June 22, 2010 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce that it has been ranked seventh in the Top 50 socially responsible businesses in Canada by Corporate Knights.
Corporate Knights is the leading magazine on corporate responsibility in Canada. The ranking is done according to a series of criteria such as governance, CEO pay in relation to lowest paid employees, diversity on the board, sales to carbon footprint ratio, and portfolio of green and sustainable projects, among others. To ensure the accuracy of the assessment procedures and results, an external review of Corporate Knights' findings is conducted by Deloitte.
"We are delighted with this affirmation of our position as a market leader in sustainability," said Pierre Duhaime, President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin. "In fact, many of the selection criteria reflect our five core WE CARE values, which are the cornerstones of our business - the well-being of our employees, the communities where we live and work and the natural environment; the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors and end users; and a commitment to delivering quality work."
Companies are ranked against their peers in similar industries, and to qualify for consideration they must be traded on the TSX and have at least 5,000 employees.
