Société des casinos du Québec President's Golf Tournament
PROFITS OF THE 2010 TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT
THE FONDATION PAVILLON DU PARC
MONTREAL, Aug. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - The sixth edition of the Société des casinos du Québec (SCQ) President's Golf Tournament will be held on September 8, 2010, on the greens of the Club de golf des Hautes plaines, in Gatineau. This year, the regional organization benefiting from the event is the Fondation Pavillon du Parc, whose role is to help people with an intellectual disability or a pervasive developmental disorder.
"Every year, thanks to the generous participation of our partners and suppliers, we turn over the profits of the tournament to an organization that makes a difference in its community," explained SCQ President Claude Poisson. "Since 1999, the Fondation Pavillon du Parc has been carrying out programs and providing support services to its clientele. I am very pleased to help the team at the Fondation continue its noble mission in the Outaouais region," he added.
Two regional celebrities share honorary chairmanship
After being held at Mont-Tremblant last year, the benefit tournament returns to Gatineau under the co-chairmanship of Mayor Marc Bureau and the Fondation du Parc's Vice-Chairman, Claude Létourneau.
"As chairman of the Fondation's 2010 fundraising campaign, I was was very pleased to accept the vice-chairmanship of the tournament. It is a cause that is very dear to me," explained Mr. Bureau. For Mr. Létourneau, who is a founder and acted as the organization's chairman for many years, this donation is extremely valuable: "Our thanks go to Mr. Poisson, the SCQ and its partners for their generous contribution to the Fondation Pavillon du Parc. This fundraising event will enable us to make a difference in the lives of many more people."
Strong support for local communities
Since 2005, the annual golf tournament benefiting a non-profit organization gives concrete expression to SCQ's commitment to community associations in various parts of Quebec. Tournaments held in previous years benefited the Fondation de l'Université du Québec in the Outaouais, the Association de l'acidose lactique, the Fondation québécoise du cancer, Quebec's Outaouais Alzheimer Society and the Palliacco des Sommets Foundation.
