TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2016 /CNW/ - Sodexo Canada has been honoured with the 2016 Tier 1 Champion of Supplier Diversity Award by the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Suppliers Council (CAMSC).
The annual award is granted to corporations that demonstrate leadership in establishing thriving vendor relationships with Aboriginal and minority suppliers.
Sodexo Canada's recognition of the value an inclusive supply chain provides is part of the company's strategic vision to strengthen its work culture and service capabilities through diversity and inclusiveness. In keeping with this commitment, the company actively seeks out innovative Aboriginal and minority suppliers and provides strong mentorship to support their ability to meet specific supply procedures and requirements.
This focus on "best management practices" has proven highly effective at empowering Aboriginal and minority companies to develop and expand their businesses and create employment.
Today, Sodexo Canada has more than 52 Aboriginal and minority suppliers. CAMSC has been instrumental in helping the corporation connect with companies operated by Aboriginals and minorities and developing high-value business relationships.
"We are extremely proud to be recognized by CAMSC for our efforts to build robust vendor relationships with companies managed by Aboriginals and members of visible minorities," says Barry Telford, President, Sodexo Canada. "Our experience is that establishing an inclusive supply chain makes us a better service provider to the broad range of organizations we serve. By working with Aboriginal and minority companies we gain new perspectives, approaches and ideas that enable innovative solutions that are then passed on to our clients."
Sodexo Canada has been a member of CAMSC since 2013.
"Diversity in the supply chain is vital to the future growth and development of the business economy in Canada," says Cassandra Dorrington, President and CEO, CAMSC. "We strongly believe that utilization of diverse suppliers can increase the generation of creative solutions and open up new markets and business opportunities. CAMSC congratulates Sodexo for their leadership and commitment to advancing supplier diversity in Canada."
