Spring Cloud Stream Binder for PubSub+, along with the availability of the free Solace PubSub+ Standard as a PCF tile, gives developers working within Pivotal frameworks the ability to connect their microservices using a robust, event-driven messaging infrastructure.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW/ -- Solace announced today that it has released a binder for Pivotal Spring Cloud Stream for developers to connect their Stream frameworks with the power and flexibility of Solace PubSub+ event brokers. This combination will allow developers to focus on business logic instead of messaging semantics so they can create sophisticated microservices without having to know anything about the underlying messaging that makes it all possible.
"Application developers often turn to REST because it simplifies and standardizes application development," says Jonathan Schabowsky, senior architect in Solace's Office of the CTO. "Spring Cloud Stream is even easier to use than REST – you just drop a couple of annotations in your code and the application connectivity is taken care of automatically, with events available for use within both the Stream applications and to build Cloud Data Flow pipelines."
"Even though the specifics of messaging are abstracted away from developers within Spring Cloud Stream, the messaging technology used is still an important consideration," said Schabowsky. "Solace can provide robust and reliable messaging infrastructure that will connect to any system in any location using any common protocol."
This is the first third-party, commercially developed binder, developed in conjunction with Pivotal to ensure optimal integration with Spring Cloud Stream. It has been released as an open-source project and is available on GitHub and Maven.
In addition to the Spring Cloud Stream binder, Solace today also announced the availability of the new version of its PCF tile, which deploys PubSub+ event brokers onto infrastructure as a service (IaaS), fully managed by Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF). The new tile includes the ability for developers to use PubSub+ Standard edition in applications developed within PCF frameworks, which, with its high availability, robust disaster recovery and enterprise-grade security, is ready for production environments and is available for free.
"These releases demonstrate Solace's commitment to our Pivotal partnership, and our belief in their vision," said Steve Buchko, VP of Product Management at Solace. "We have a strong roadmap of improvements planned for the binder, including further enhancements to wildcard support and the ability to implement partitions. In addition, updates to our advanced event broker technology, including replay and dynamic message routing, will soon be reflected in our PCF tile, giving application developers even better tools to build their event-driven microservices."
