Solace Power Wins Innovation Award from Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association (ACADA)
MOUNT PEARL, NL, Sept. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - Solace Power walked away with the top Innovation Leader Award at the annual awards hosted by the Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association (ACADA) in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 6, 2017.
Solace's wireless power technology was recognized as an innovative product that's helping to build the capability of the aerospace and defence industry in Atlantic Canada. Solace's technology enables functional improvements for the industry including: increased capability and reduced weight for soldier systems; improved autonomy for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs); and reduced maintenance for rotary-wing aircraft. The patented technology, called Resonant Capacitive Coupling or RC²™, uses electric fields to transfer power.
"The Solace Power team is pleased to have to our wireless power technology recognized by the aerospace and defence industry through this award," said Kris McNeil, Founder and CEO of Solace Power. "RC² addresses various needs of the industry by helping to keep batteries charged, such as those in UAVs that are used for surveillance and monitoring," he added.
Two other Atlantic Canadian companies also received awards. Bluedrop Training and Simulation won the Business Development Distinction Award and Sayle Safety won the Most-Promising Start-up or Business Diversification Award.
"The ACADA Team, our members and partners extend warm congratulations and appreciation to the 2017 ACADA Industry Excellence Recognition Award recipients.
