EDMONTON, May 6 /CNW/ - Solid Resources Ltd. ("Solid" or the "Company") (TSX Venture: SRW) (Frankfurt: A0BLQQ) announces the resignation of Mr. Garnet Harter from the Board of Directors to allow for a new appointment. Mr. Harter has also resigned his positions as interim Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations, effective immediately.
Mr. Harter will now focus his activities with Golden Lion Resources Inc., with respect to the proposed transfer of all of Solid's 49% interest in the Bear mineral property located in the Northwest Territories to Golden Lion, which was announced April 30, 2010.
The Company wishes to thank Mr. Harter for his years of dedicated service both as a member of the board and his positions in management.
The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Attilio (Tony) Spat, M.Sc., P.Eng. to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Spat holds a Diploma Mining Engineering degree from the I.T.M. in Belluno, Italy. He also holds a B.Sc. in Geology and a M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canada, a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and a past member of the American institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. In March 2005 he was honored with a Special Achievement Award by the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada for his lifetime commitment to prospecting and for his discovery of the Angostura gold-silver project in north-east Colombia.
Born in France, Mr. Spat worked as a mining engineer in several countries in Europe before immigrating to Canada. Upon his arrival in Canada, he first went to work for Mindamar Metals and then Malartic Goldfields. In 1963 he joined Newmont Mining Corporation as a Senior Geologist and examined mineral properties and projects for them throughout the world. In 1970, he joined Placer Development Limited (now Placer Dome) as Field Manager for Foreign Exploration where he examined mineral properties and initiated, supervised and coordinated exploration programs in sixteen different countries.
In 1979 Mr. Spat left Placer and for the next 15 years worked as an independent consultant for various companies including Newmont Mining, Shell USA, Denison Mines, Terra Mines, Wright Engineers, Milchem Corp., and Asturiana de Zinc. In 1993 he became involved in the formation of Greystar Resources and served as its Vice President of Exploration and a Director until 1999. During his term there he set them up with their now burgeoning Angostura gold deposit in Colombia.
Mr. Spat joined Solid Resources in 1999 as Vice President, Mineral Exploration. Mr. Spat, who is fluent in Spanish, was very instrumental in the Company acquiring the Doade-Presqueira concession in northern Spain. During the previous years, Mr. Spat has served as a special mining and regulatory advisor with the Company for Spain and has been very involved with the Doade-Presqueira project.
He has lived and/or worked in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Portugal, Ireland, Norway, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, most of Canada including the Northwest Territories, the United States, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, Morocco, Mauritania, Liberia and Cameroon. In addition, he speaks several foreign languages.
Mr. Joerg Schuetz, CEO states, "It would be difficult to find a more distinguished and experienced exploration geologist than Mr. Spat. His stellar work history combined with his extensive knowledge of Spain, in particular our Doade-Presqueira concession, is a significant step for us.
