Sonim Next Generation Super-Tough Push-to-Talk 'BOLT' Phones Exclusive To Bell
Bell the first Canadian PTT provider to offer a device that is both intrinsically safe and features a fully integrated Lone Worker solution
TORONTO, June 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Sonim Technologies, the makers of the world's toughest phones, and Bell today announced the exclusive Canadian availability of three new ultra-rugged Push-to-Talk (PTT) phones on Canada's best PTT network− the Sonim XP5560 BOLT 2, the Sonim XP5560 BOLT 2 IS, and the Sonim XP1520 BOLT SL.
"Thanks to new safety features and Intrinsically Safe certification, Sonim's new BOLT line-up, already recognized as the toughest available anywhere, now protect workers themselves," said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim Technologies. "With this launch, Sonim and Bell continue to offer Canadians a superior PTT alternative."
Certified Intrinsically Safe by the Canadian Standards Association, the XP5560 BOLT 2 IS will not emit any excess heat or sparks that can cause an explosion, making it suitable for the most hazardous environments such as power plants or oil and gas facilities where regular mobile devices are prohibited.
Both the XP5560 BOLT 2 and XP5560 BOLT 2 IS also offer a Lone Worker safety solution that keeps customers connected to an emergency response centre at all times via a dedicated red button on the side of the device. When pushed, the user's GPS position is sent to the centre, and a communication link is automatically established with first responders. Other safety features include specialized alerts, enhanced monitoring, 'man-down' detection and advanced GPS tracking.
"When safety, reliability and instant communications are your primary requirements for a mobile phone, you need to carry a BOLT operating on Canada's best PTT network," said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility and Residential Services, and Chief Brand Officer at Bell. "With the powerful new safety features uniquely available on the world's toughest phones from Sonim, coupled with the unmatched coverage and reliability of Bell's national PTT network, instant communications just got better."
The expanded line-up of new Sonim BOLT phones will be accompanied by over 40 accessories and 10 new application vendors to meet the communications needs of Bell customers working in the most challenging environments, including construction, oil and gas, mining, transportation, security, facilities management and utilities.
All three new BOLT devices are built on the same ultra-rugged platform that holds the Guinness World Record for the toughest phone – way beyond military MIL-SPEC standards – and backed by Sonim's industry-leading 3-Year Comprehensive Warranty that even covers accidental damage.
