Waterloo startup continues explosive growth, bringing on big name CRO to fuel sales
WATERLOO, ON, Jan. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - Sortable, one of Canada's fastest-growing businesses, is pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Fuss in the newly-created role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In a bold move that brings in one of the industry's biggest talents, Fuss comes to Sortable from VICE Media Canada, where he acted as CRO for the Canadian arm of the world's preeminent youth media company and content creation studio.
"Ryan Fuss has a history of rapidly ramping publishing and online advertising businesses, and we're excited for him to bring his publisher mindset to a technology company focused on helping publishers," said Christopher Reid, Founder & CEO, Sortable. "Ryan's managed and led monetization teams at some of Canada's top media companies, and brings with him the expertise we need to continue delivering world-class solutions to publishers. He's exactly the type of talent who will help us accelerate our growth."
With a solution that optimizes display ads to increase revenue for publishers, Sortable was recently listed #8 on the Deloitte Fast 50™, an annual ranking of the fastest growing tech companies in Canada, and #14 on the 2016 PROFIT 500, with a five-year revenue growth rate of 4,653.
In just over two years, Sortable has grown from four employees to more than sixty today. Fuss' hiring is another example of the company's investment in rapid growth. With more than 17 years of experience working with some of the biggest names in publishing (Cottage Life, HGTV, Food TV, Smithsonian, MuchMusic, City TV), Fuss will now be responsible for all revenue-generating activities at Sortable, including Sales, Marketing and Partnerships.
Before joining VICE, Ryan was SVP of Media Solutions at Blue Ant Media, Canada's largest independent multi-platform media company. Additionally, Ryan has worked at several of the country's most influential media brands, including Alliance Atlantis (now Corus), Mode Media, Yahoo! Canada, and CHUM.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to work at Sortable, a forward-thinking company that works directly with publishers as a technology partner to help build better publishing businesses," said Fuss. "Not every publisher has monetization figured out. Some, like VICE Canada, handle monetization very well, but others need help and that's where Sortable comes in. I've spent almost two decades working, selling and managing at some of the world's most recognized media brands, and I'm eager to apply my experience and expertise towards helping publishers of all sizes become more successful."
Using data and machine learning, Sortable's solution analyzes publishers' sites and pairs them with the most suitable partners. Every time an ad is displayed to a viewer, the system analyzes the available ad inventory and decides which network will serve the ad with the highest return. Taking a consultative approach, Sortable helps publishers improve user experience, increase user acquisition, boost partner and advertiser compliance, and, of course, make more money— all the while speeding up the entire process.
About Sortable
Sortable is built upon our publisher roots: we own and operate 20 different websites. We got tired of ad networks over-promising and under-performing, so we developed our own ad optimization technology — built for publishers by publishers. Our technology allows you to focus on creating great content, while we focus on optimizing your ad inventory across display, native, video, PPC, performance and mobile.
