A Share Update in the S&P/TSX Composite Index
TORONTO, Aug. 4, 2016 /CNW/ - S&P Dow Jones Canadian Index Services will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices:
Emera Incorporated (TSX:EMA) has completed the acquisition of TECO Energy, Inc. (NYSE:TE). TECO Energy shareholders will receive $US27.55 cash per share held. To reflect the issuance of common shares of Emera as part of the financing of the transaction, the relative weight of Emera will increase in the S&P/TSX Composite and Capped Composite, the S&P/TSX 60 and 60 Capped, the S&P/TSX 60 Fossil Fuel Free, the S&P/TSX Composite Dividend, the S&P/TSX Composite High Dividend and the S&P/TSX Capped Utilities Indices. There will be no change to the relative weight for Emera in the S&P/TSX Composite Equal Weight, the S&P/TSX Canadian Dividend Aristocrats, the S&P/TSX 60 Equal Weight or the S&P/TSX Composite Low Volatility Indices. These changes will be effective after the close of trading on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
