TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Featuring a spectacular Champagne Celebration Cake on the cover and a special section on entertaining, photographed at broadcaster Marilyn Denis's home, the November 2015 issue of Canadian Living marks the magazine's 40th anniversary not only with style but also with trademark service to its readers.
In this special issue, the nation's most popular magazine for Canadian women, with nearly 3.5 million readers per issue, helps readers get a head start on the holidays with 96 festive recipes and hosting ideas, highlighted in part by a seven-page special section devoted to almost-effortless entertaining. Photographed in the Toronto home of TV and radio host Marilyn Denis, the feature article shares simple step-by-step instructions from Canadian Living experts on how to host a party that both you and your guests will enjoy. With tricks for making inexpensive supermarket flowers centrepiece-worthy, stocking a self-serve bar cart and building the perfect cheese platter and charcuterie board, it's a complete resource that takes the anxiety out of impending holiday fêtes. A longtime contributor on The Marilyn Denis Show, Charles MacPherson (a.k.a. Charles the Butler) offers simple answers to tricky questions about how to be a great party guest, including: should you take your shoes off at the door? Canadian Living's website, canadianliving.com, and interactive tablet edition of the issue bring the pages to life with a series of how-to videos, a sit-down interview with Marilyn and behind-the-scenes coverage of how the issue was put together. Bringing the collaboration full circle, Marilyn Denis will welcome Canadian Living's Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Sandra Martin, as well as Food Director Annabelle Waugh and Fashion & Beauty Director Julia McEwen on a special Canadian Living-themed episode of her number-1-rated lifestyle program, The Marilyn Denis Show, airing live on Tuesday, October 6.
"We had an absolute blast collaborating with Marilyn Denis and all of the other much-admired Canadians who have joined us as guest editors throughout Canadian Living's 40th anniversary year," said Martin. "With every issue, we've learned a great deal from these very accomplished people, starting in January with hockey legend and child-fitness activist Hayley Wickenheiser and continuing with astronaut Chris Hadfield, Twitter vice-president Kirstine Stewart and possibly the funniest chef alive, Lynn Crawford. These guest editors have astounded us with the knowledge they've shared from their chosen careers and have surprised us with talents and insights the public doesn't often get to see."
To commemorate the 40th anniversary, October 6 also marks the release of the brand-new Canadian Living: The Ultimate Cookbook, which features more than 450 iconic recipes, including retested and revised classics from the Canadian Living archives, as well as modern essentials for home cooks and passionate foodies, newly developed and Tested Till Perfect by the Canadian Living Test Kitchen.
The celebration continues on October 7 with a special by-invitation-only bash for Canadian Living industry partners and creative collaborators, held at 99 Sudbury in Toronto.
And the party isn't over yet! Canadian Living welcomes Juno- and Grammy-winning singer Michael Bublé as guest editor for the December issue, on newsstands November 9.
The special 40th Anniversary Issue featuring Marilyn Denis is available on newsstands starting October 5.
