BEDFORD, NS and LONGUEUIL, QC, March 13, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Farmers Co-operative Dairy and Agropur Cooperative are very proud to announce that they have reached a major milestone in the February agreement to merge the two dairy cooperatives.
During a special meeting held yesterday in Boucherville, the members of Agropur unanimously approved the necessary modifications to the by-laws and statutes for the agreement to be finalized. At the same time, members of Farmers Co-operative Dairy, at a special meeting, approved the merger with a vote of 97% in favour.
The merger can be completed once approvals are received from the appropriate authorities. Over the next few weeks, business teams from the two cooperatives will start work on determining how to merge their operations in order to leverage their respective strengths.
