With Matthew Bushell serving as the director, the new office will immediately recruit for the local Oil and Gas and Mining industries as well as launch the additional Renewables, Rower, Trading and Finance energy sectors. Located on the 10th floor of the prestigious Bankers Hall West Tower in the heart of the city, the office has plans to support 20 Spencer Ogden energy experts by the end of next year.
"With the energy market booming in Canada, Calgary is the hub for Canadian oil and gas companies and the gateway to Oil Sands Development projects. It is an exciting place to be for developing the Spencer Ogden brand," says Matthew Bushell, director and country manager - Canada. "I'm confident that our vast knowledge and experience within each sector of the energy market leaves us well positioned to make a positive contribution in the region."
Matthew Bushell, who has more than eight years experience in recruiting with large global organizations, believes in using local knowledge and talent to service existing requirements and build strong relationships with Canadian energy companies. The Spencer Ogden management team intends to build on the impressive growth of Calgary's energy corridor to deliver an all-encompassing, consultative offering in energy recruitment to Canada.
"We're delighted that Matthew is spearheading Spencer Ogden's Calgary office and extending the company's reach into other areas of Canada," says Spencer Ogden CEO and Co-Founder David Spencer-Percival. "He's been instrumental in exploring opportunities and building relationships across the region."
David Spencer-Percival, CEO, Spencer Ogden comments: "Canada has vast reserves of oil and gas as well as some of the largest mining companies specializing in things such as copper, potash, diamonds, etc. Having an office in Calgary allows Spencer Ogden a foothold into Canada and its thriving energy industry."
While Spencer Ogden is initially focused on the Calgary oil and gas sector, the agency plans to expand to other cities with offices in Vancouver and Toronto for mining and power generation. The new office comes hot on the heels of the company's second Asian office opening in Hong Kong and its 'super-hub' office opening in Houston. Spencer Ogden is in line to turn over $45m in 2012 and is now the world's leading full lifecycle energy recruitment company with offices in London, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Houston, Singapore, Hong Kong and Calgary.
Founded by philanthropist Sir Peter Ogden and recruitment expert David Spencer-Percival, Spencer Ogden has grown rapidly since its launch in January 2010. The agency has become recognized as a leader within its sector, achieving an annual $28.76 million in 2011 and with 2012 revenues forecasted at $47 million. Since its inception, the agency has hired a team of more than 150 across seven existing locations. In April 2012, the company launched its mining division, complementing the agency's seven existing energy sectors including oil and gas, renewables and nuclear energy. These expansions continue to propel the company towards its ambition of becoming the global energy recruiter of choice and the only end-to-end recruiter in the energy and mining markets.
