TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Sport Chek, the Official Sports Store of Canada's Olympic Team, today unveiled the first-ever adidas Canadian Olympic Team High Performance Collection of apparel and footwear.
The Olympic-branded collection includes Terrex Boots, Compression Shorts, Stretch Primaloft Jackets, Techfit Short Sleeve Tops, an Ultimate 3-Stripe Fleece Full Zip Hoody as well as socks, gloves, sandals, sports bras and base layers. By incorporating adidas technologies such as Climalite, Climawarm and Techfit, the clothes optimize the athlete's performance by improving muscle efficiency, increasing moisture-control and providing insulation in colder temperatures.
Included in the collection is the all-new Canadian Olympic 'Adipure Crazy Quick' running shoes that Canadian Olympians will be wearing on the podium at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
Sport Chek, adidas and the Canadian Olympic team announced the ground-breaking partnership several months ago. Today is the first time that the collection of more than 170 items is unveiled to the public and Canada's Olympic team.
In addition to being joined by leading Canadian Olympians, Sport Chek today is highlighting exceptional amateur athletes in six communities across the country - and said that the new adidas Canadian Olympic Team High Performance Collection is truly designed for athletes training at all skill levels.
"This is the most accessible and highest performance line of Olympic clothing that Canadians have ever seen," said Michael Medline, President of Canadian Tire Sports and Sport Chek. "We are so proud to partner with adidas and Canada's Olympic team to provide performance apparel and bring this entire collection to Canadians and athletes at 170 Sport Chek locations across the country."
"We are thrilled to launch the adidas Canadian Olympic Team High Performance Collection today with our partners - the Canadian Olympic Committee and Sport Chek," said Jim Gabel, President of adidas Group Canada. "As we approach the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, and athletic training kicks into high gear, we are proud to provide Canadian athletes at all levels with apparel and footwear that will enhance their performance."
"This clothing was designed specifically to inspire athletes with performance apparel whether they are training for the Games, competing locally or cheering from hometowns across Canada," said Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee. "Arming our athletes with the best possible training attire is paramount to achieving athletic success, and it is great to see this high level of support for sport in our country."
Seven of Canada's Olympic hopefuls including Chris Del Bosco, Erik Guay, Charles Hamelin, Kaillie Humphries, Meaghan Mikkelson, Jon Montgomery and Maëlle Ricker are part of Sport Chek's marketing campaign to celebrate the Collection, which is now available in Sport Chek stores and online at SportChek.ca. Canadian Tire and Sports Experts, also Premier National Partners of the Canadian Olympic Committee, will carry select items in-store nationwide as of November 30, 2013.
