MONTREAL, Sept. 25, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Established in the Saint-Henri district of Montreal in January 1989, the McAuslan Brewery quickly became one of Quebec's great microbreweries. It was there that the brewery launched its first beer, St-Ambroise Pale Ale, which was an immediate success. Its distinctive hoppy-ness and clear reddish hue set it apart and gained it an instant following. Shortly after, McAuslan Brewing became the first micro-brewery to offer its product in bottles.
This year, St-Ambroise, which has become the gold standard for many beer fans, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. During this quarter century, the McAuslan Brewery has become a key player of the Quebec and Canadian brewing industry and an emblem of renewal in the Sud-Ouest borough. For Philippe Jaar, Vice-President and General Manager of the Brewery, "Today we are celebrating 25 years of history and passion with the craftsmen who contributed to the success of St-Ambroise beer. Those 25 years are a springboard to the future."
To mark the occasion, the McAuslan Brewery is inaugurating the St-Ambroise ANNEXE, a pub where one can enjoy an authentic McAuslan experience. The Brewery has also completely refurbished the St-Ambroise Terrace that borders the Lachine Canal, a favourite spot for cyclists and hikers over the past several years. The façade of the building that houses the Brewery has also been restored, as well as the reception area, reviving the character of this place that is so emblematic of St-Henri. A mini brewing room that allows us to experiment and explore new frontiers of the brewing arts, and a St-Ambroise boutique, round out these new facilities.
"The McAuslan Brewery, the ground-breaking pioneer of microbreweries in Quebec and in Canada, is prouder and readier than ever to take on new challenges while faithfully protecting the pillar of its strength over so many ears: the exceptional quality of its beers," added Philippe Jaar.
