St. John's independent retailer honoured with Retail Council of Canada's Ambassador Award
TORONTO, May 2, 2013 /CNW/ - Retail Council of Canada (RCC) announced today that Paul and Gleniss Thomey, owners and operators of THAT PRO LOOK, a sports apparel retailer in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador will be honoured with the Ambassador Award sponsored by Chase Paymentech.
The Ambassador Award sponsored by Chase Paymentech, the payment processing and merchant acquiring business of JPMorgan Chase & Co., recognizes the outstanding contributions of a local independent retailer to his or her community. The recipient is seen as a visionary, an innovator, and an integral part of the community that his or her business serves. Paul and Gleniss Thomey were selected this year among a long list of amazing independent retailers in Canada as they personify the commitment, resilience and passion required to operate a highly respected and successful small business. The couple has been at the helm of THAT PRO LOOK, a specialty sports apparel, equipment and licensed fan gear retail store, since 1996. The store is located in the Avalon Mall in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
"Paul and Gleniss are known for their community involvement, their dedication to customer service and their devotion to employees," noted Diane J. Brisebois, President & CEO of Retail Council of Canada. "They are genuine retail and small business ambassadors who embody the true spirit of entrepreneurship and charitable giving and the industry is proud to recognize their accomplishments."
THAT PRO LOOK, established, owned and operated by the Thomey's, gives to the community and the charitable organizations its staff and customers support. As many colleagues and customers in St. John's noted, Paul and Gleniss also go beyond the call of duty and provide support and mentorship to young students doing projects on topics such as entrepreneurship and small business ownership.
Paul and Gleniss Thomey will be recognized by the industry at the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) annual Excellence in Retailing Award Dinner held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at STORE 2013 - Canada's Retail Conference. For more information about STORE 2013, visit www.storeconference.ca.
