MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - The Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services (ACSESS) releases the Canadian Staffing Index for September of 2012.
The Canadian Staffing Index was 113 in September of 2012, representing a 15% year-over-year increase from September 2011 and a consistent performance level against the previous month.
"September is the twelfth consecutive month with the Index above one hundred, this shows that the industry has maintained activity above pre-recession levels in terms of the volume of demand for temporary staffing," says Timothy Landhuis, Research Analyst at Staffing Industry Analysts
Bryan Toffey, ACSESS National President and Regional Vice-President of Aerotek's Canadian Operations, notes that "September's Index reflects the importance of the staffing industry as a way for Canada's top employers to utilize a flexible workforce amid the continued backdrop of economic uncertainty. These companies are the ones most likely to be able to respond quickly to any further upturn or downturn in their business cycles".
The Index score of 113 measures the hours of labour performed by temporary and contract staff in September of 2012 compared to the benchmark index of 100 established in July 2008.
