MONTREAL and OTTAWA, May 1, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Montreal Mayor Michael Applebaum and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson have launched a friendly wager ahead of the NHL quarterfinal match-up between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators.
The two mayors agreed that the mayor of the losing city will wear the jersey of the winning team before their next City Council meeting and also display the flag of the winning city's team in their office for a week.
"After an amazing regular season, I am convinced Michel Therrien's team will give us the opportunity to see my colleague wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey. Go Habs Go ! ", said Mayor Applebaum.
"Our Sens have had a season of ups and downs, but we know that their best games are still ahead of them," said Mayor Watson. "They have shown that they never give up - and our fans will not give up - as we cheer them to victory over the Habs."
