Government of Canada supports this community project in Estrie
STANSTEAD, QC, June 10, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Member of Parliament for Compton-Stanstead and Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, announced on behalf of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, that the Stanstead Recreational Association has been granted $56,000 in financial assistance for the purchase and installation of a water splash pad for children at the Beebe Memorial Park.
Key players in the community have long been asking for concrete, lasting improvements to the community and recreational infrastructures. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects that, like this one by the Stanstead Recreational Association, contribute to the vitality of our country's regions and make them more dynamic.
The Stanstead Recreational Association is a grouping of dynamic volunteers who organize different activities aiming to bring the community together and to entertain families. This non refundable contribution, provided under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), will allow the organization to restore and improve Beebe's Memorial Park playground with the installation of a water splash pad and other connected installations like a locker room and urban furniture. This new equipment will most notably be used by the children of the summer camp.
The Town of Stanstead contributed $38,000 for the completion of this project while the Memphémagog MRC invested a sum of $25,000. The Stanstead Recreational Association received the support of several private partners and members of the community. The total value of the project is of $139,297.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
