Time-honoured traditions meet innovation with the first new holiday beverage in five years, 100 original cup and card designs and a chance to win Starbucks for Life!
TORONTO, Nov. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadians are among the first in the world to be part of the holidays this year at Starbucks. Today, stores across the country open to reveal a reimagined and inspired holiday experience, featuring the new Chestnut Praline Latte, a curated collection of 100 Starbucks Cards and cup designs and the chance to win Starbucks for Life each time you pay with your Starbucks Card in participating Starbucks® stores.
"We have completely redesigned the holiday experience in Starbucks® stores this year to inspire and ignite moments of joy and connection," says Richard Burjaw, vice president of marketing, Starbucks Canada. "This season, we've made gift giving personal from innovative merchandise and coffee to Starbucks Cards. There is truly something for everyone on your nice list in Starbucks® stores this holiday."
Five Years in the Making: Introducing the new Chestnut Praline Latte
Inspired by the time-honoured tradition of warm roasted chestnuts, this cozy beverage features Starbucks® signature espresso combined with freshly steamed milk and flavours of caramelized chestnuts and spices, finished with whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs for a buttery crunch. This beverage joins the existing Starbucks® handcrafted holiday favourites – Peppermint Mocha and Caramel Brûlé Lattes - and pairs beautifully with Starbucks® Canadian-exclusive Hello Dolly Bar, with its layers of coconut, chocolate and shortbread.
100 Ways to Get Personal: Introducing Starbucks® Dot and Starbucks Card Collections
From the style setter and the on-the-go traveller, to the traditionalist and modern man, the search for the perfect gift is over. With the first-ever collection of 100 uniquely designed cups and cards, there is something for every personality on your holiday list this year.
The Starbucks® Holiday Dot Collection features 100 depictions of the iconic Starbucks "green dot" logo in a custom curated collection of tumblers, cold cups and mugs, each under $25.00 CDN. Developed by Starbucks own in-house design team, the Dot Collection features bold colours and expressive patterns that ignite the spirit of the season in every piece.
Last year in Canada, nearly 40% of Canadians said they prefer receiving gift cards over traditional gifts1i. This year, at Starbucks the gift card gets personal with a few new looks – 100 of them to be exact. From classic holiday themes and monograms to distinct creations, the Starbucks Card Collection makes a great stocking stuffer, thoughtful surprise or accompaniment to a Starbucks® Dot Collection cup.
Gift cards reach a new level this year with the unveiling of the Limited Edition Sterling Silver Starbucks Card. This premium card has been beautifully crafted and engraved with the Starbucks logo. An exclusive piece for the holiday, there are a limited number available across the country, while quantities last. Pre-loaded with $50, the Limited Edition Sterling Silver Starbucks Card is available at participating company-operated Starbucks® stores and at starbucksstore.ca for $200 CDN.
Beginning in December, every purchase made with a Starbucks Card has the chance to earn Starbucks for Life (more information to come). Customers can also register their cards to become eligible for My Starbucks Rewards®. Customers earn Stars for every purchase made by swiping their Card or paying through a mobile device at a participating store. Stars can be redeemed for free Starbucks® food and beverages (Some restrictions apply. At participating stores).
A Festive Favourite Turns 30: Starbucks® Christmas Blend
Some things are better in their thirties and the 2014 Starbucks® Christmas Blend is no exception. Crafting Christmas Blend each season is a long-cherished tradition at Starbucks, combining bright Latin American coffees with rare, aged beans from Sumatra for those signature sweet and spice notes. Christmas Blend is the most popular seasonal whole bean coffee at Starbucks and is the only Starbucks® coffee to be brewed in all 65 countries where Starbucks has stores. Coffee makes a great gift and this year, Starbucks is making coffee more easily giftable with ½ pound packages of Starbucks® Christmas Blend, Starbucks® Decaf Christmas Blend and Starbucks® Christmas Blend Espresso Roast.
