Stash & Co. - Recreational Cannabis fundraises for Ottawa women's shelter amidst Covid-19
OTTAWA, May 4, 2020 /CNW/ - Stash & Co. – Recreational Cannabis in Centretown, Ottawa has donated $10,000 to the Cornerstone Housing for Women shelter in Ottawa, Ontario. The donation comes at a time where social distancing measures and calls to stay at home has generated concern for spikes in domestic abuse and homelessness in Ottawa.
"It is important now more than ever for our community to come together and make a difference with regards to the housing crisis here, especially during COVID-19. Since our opening in February, our staff has worked hard raising funds for the Cornerstone Housing for Women in an effort to curb homelessness in Ottawa," says Karan Someshwar, founder of Stash & Co. – Recreational Cannabis.
Stash & Co.'s donation comes as a result of their Tote-for-Toonie fundraising initiative; where customers shopping at Stash & Co. can purchase a reusable tote bag for $2 and 100% of all revenue collected is donated to the Cornerstone Shelter for Women. In two months, the recreational cannabis store raised $5,000 with founder Karan Someshwar matching an additional $5,000 in their donation for Cornerstone. The cannabis store will continue fundraising through online sales where customers can benefit from Stash & Co's Ottawa wide free delivery service.
