Statement - 54 new medical school spaces

TORONTO , Feb. 3 /CNW/ - Ontario's doctors commend the provincial government for its investment into new medical school spaces in Ontario. The addition of 54 new medical school spaces at the Mississauga Academy of Medicine will not only strengthen our health care system, but it will also increase the availability and access to health care services. In fact, since 2003, over 800,000 patients that didn't have access to a family physician now do.

We know that physicians who are educated at home in Ontario are more likely to stay and practice here in the province. The goal of Ontario's doctors is to ensure that every person has access to the care of a physician and by creating the opportunity to educate more doctors in the province we are one step closer to meeting that goal.
