Statement - Government of Canada Pays Tribute to the Canadian Soldiers Who Fought at Kapyong Français
OTTAWA, April 24, 2014 /CNW/ - On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong, the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, issued the following statement today:
"This anniversary is the perfect opportunity for the Government of Canada to pay tribute to the courage and valour of the Canadian soldiers who took part in this key battle for the United Nations forces.
"The Battle of Kapyong was a turning point in the Korean War. The perseverance and determination of the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry helped to blunt the Chinese offensive in South Korea.
"The Government of Canada is proud of the dedication of its soldiers who contributed to the defence of democracy, peace and freedom in South Korea."
