OTTAWA, June 12, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement regarding the arrest of Ali Omar Ader in relation to his alleged involvement in the hostage-taking of Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout.
"I commend the RCMP and the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team for their relentless efforts, along with their domestic and international partners, that resulted in this arrest. I would also like to thank the Canada Border Services Agency, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and the Australian Federal Police for their support in this operation.
Our Government supports the tireless work of our law enforcement personnel who protect Canadian communities, ensure the safety of victims of crimes, such as hostages, and bring justice to them and their families.
