Statement - Minister Garneau reacts to reports into fatal Magdalen Islands aircraft accident Français
OTTAWA, Jan. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today issued the following statement regarding the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and Quebec Coroner's Office reports into the fatal accident on March 29, 2016 in Magdalen Islands, Quebec:
"My heartfelt thoughts and support continue to go out to all the victims' families and friends. I had the utmost respect for the Honourable Jean Lapierre and admired his many years of service to Canadians. He was devoted to this country and is greatly missed.
"I would like to thank the Transportation Safety Board and Quebec Coroner's Office for their hard work and investigations. My officials are now thoroughly reviewing both reports.
"Transport Canada shares the Transportation Safety Board of Canada's goal of advancing air safety, which is why we had deployed our own inspectors, and had appointed a Minister's observer to the Transportation Safety Board's investigation. We remain committed to maintaining and improving the safety of Canada's aviation system."
