Statement - THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE ALLIANCE OF
CANADA AGREE ON PARAMETERS OF TENTATIVE AGREEMENTS
OTTAWA, Oct 4 /CNW/ - The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today issued the following statement on the results of early exploratory discussions between his officials and the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
"I am pleased that the exploratory discussions undertaken by the Public Service Alliance of Canada, led by its President, Mr. John Gordon, and by my officials have culminated in positive results.
These early discussions have established the parameters for collective agreements that will be presented to the Public Service Alliance of Canada members of three of its five groups: the Program and Administrative Services Group (PA), the Education and Library Science Group (EB) and the Operational Services Group (SV).
These agreements cover approximately 95,000 represented employees.
I take this opportunity to thank Mr. John Gordon and the representatives of the Public Service Alliance of Canada as well as my officials, who worked diligently and responsibly to achieve financial predictability for the Government and certainty for employees in these times of fiscal restraint."
