MARKHAM, ON, March 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Acura will voluntarily recall approximately 17,000 model-year 2004-2008 TSX sedans in Canada to install a water resistant cover over the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). In cold-weather areas where road salt is also heavily used, it is possible for melted snow from drivers' footwear to saturate the carpet that covers the ECU under the vehicle dashboard. When water containing road salt comes in contact with the metal ECU case, corrosion can form, which, over time, can lead to vehicles stalling and not restarting. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue.
Acura is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notifications to customers are expected to be sent in April 2013. In addition to contacting customers by mail, owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicles require inspection by going on-line to www.acura.ca/recalls or by calling (888) 9ACURA9.
