Statement by ATU Local 113 regarding TTC bus driver impairment charge
TORONTO, May 13 /CNW/ - ATU Local 113 President Bob Kinnear has issued the following statement concerning the police charge of a TTC bus driver for impaired driving on Wednesday evening.
"This operator was not impaired due to alcohol or illegal drugs. He was apparently affected by doctor-prescribed medication he had been taking for several months. He had not been advised that his medication might cause impairment. There had been no prior indication of impairment from the medication. A medical investigation is underway to determine the nature and specific agents of the impairment.
"No member of the public was affected by this incident. As it involves a medical condition, we ask that the media respect his privacy pending his court appearance."
