Statement by Honda Canada Regarding Expansion of VSA Non-compliance Recall: 2012-2013 Honda Fit Français
MARKHAM ON, July 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Honda Canada will voluntarily expand a Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) non-compliance recall announced in April 2013 to include an additional 8,871 model-year 2012-2013 Fit DX/LX vehicles in Canada. Vehicles will receive an update for the VSA system software, free of charge. The VSA system on certain 2012-2013 model year Honda Fit vehicles may allow yaw rates that exceed certain Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) requirements. This issue was originally discovered during FMVSS compliance testing in the U.S., and Honda is not aware of any related crashes or injuries.
The original recall initiated in April 2013 included only certain Fit Sport models in Canada. With this expansion, a total of 10,887 Fit models sold in Canada are now included in the recall.
Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda Canada. Mailed notification will be sent to customers in late-July 2013. Owners of vehicles from the affected model years will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.honda.ca/recalls or by calling (888) 9HONDA9.
