The Government of Canada supports our athletes at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games
OTTAWA, April 4, 2018 /CNW/ - Today marks the official opening of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia.
Our Canadian team, led by flag-bearer Meaghan Benfeito, marched proudly into Carrara Stadium today. They were among the more than 6,600 athletes representing the 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.
The Government of Canada is proud to support our inspiring athletes from playground to podium. Investing in Canada's athletes and their national sport organizations provides them with the resources and tools they need to compete and win on the international stage.
Along with Canadians from coast to coast to coast, we will be watching and cheering as these men and women compete for our great country.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games are held in Gold Coast, Australia, from April 4 to 15. These games will see 6,600 athletes compete in 18 sports and 7 para-sports. Canada is represented by 28 athletes.
