Statement by Minister Joly on Lunar New Year
OTTAWA, Feb. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - This week, many Canadians will celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome the arrival of the year of the Dog.
The Lunar New Year—also known as Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, Tết in Vietnam and Seollal in Korea—is one of the most important holidays for celebrants both here and abroad.
As friends and families come together in shared hope for a prosperous year to come, let us take the time to recognize the valuable contributions that Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and many other East Asian communities have made to all aspects of life in Canada. Canada is strong not in spite of our differences, but because of them.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I extend my warmest wishes to all those marking the Lunar New Year. I wish you a happy and prosperous year!
新年快樂! Chúc mừng năm mới. 새해 복 많이 받으세요
