Members of the Hindu community in Canada and around the world celebrate Navratri
OTTAWA, Sept. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - This week, Hindu communities in Canada, South Asia and around the world will observe Navratri. Navratri is one of the most important holidays in the Hindu community.
This nine-night festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. It is a time for reflection and devotion that includes fasting, prayer, singing, dances and celebration.
During this year of Canada 150 celebrations, we have a wonderful opportunity to discover the many cultures and communities that make Canada such a great country in which to live. I invite all Canadians to take the time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of Canada's Hindu community to the richness and diversity of our society.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I wish a joyous festival to everyone celebrating Navratri.
