Today, Tamils in Canada and around the world will celebrate Puthandu, the Tamil New Year
OTTAWA, April 14, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, we join Tamils across Canada and around the world to welcome the Tamil New Year, known as Puthandu.
With its message of renewal, hope and reconciliation, this joyous occasion is an opportunity for families and friends to gather to share traditional meals, exchange gifts, and take part in various cultural festivities.
Tamil Canadians have made significant contributions to every aspect of our society, such as arts and culture, and played an important role in shaping our country. On the occasion of Puthandu, I invite Canadians to discover the rich heritage of the Tamil community, which is a wonderful illustration of the cultural diversity that is our country's strength.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I wish all those celebrating Puthandu a happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Iniya Tamil Puthandu Nalvazhthukkal!
