In October, Canadians celebrate Canadian Islamic History Month
OTTAWA, Oct. 1st, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Canadian Islamic History Month.
Enacted by the Parliament of Canada in 2007, this month offers Canadians an unprecedented opportunity to honour our large Muslim-Canadian community and recognize their valuable contributions in shaping and building our country.
This year, as we mark Canada 150, we have the opportunity to celebrate our country's diversity and spirit of openness. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming society that promotes respect for everyone, regardless of faith or ethnic origin.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I invite Canadians of all backgrounds to participate in the events and activities that celebrate Islamic History Month.
