This week, millions of people in Canada and around the world are celebrating Vaisakhi
OTTAWA, April 14, 2018 /CNW/ - This week, we join Sikhs in Canada and around the world to celebrate Vaisakhi, the most important date in the Sikh faith.
Vaisakhi marks the creation of Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. Families and friends gather to participate in Nagar Kirtans and attend prayers at gurdwaras.
Canada is proud to be home to one of the largest Sikh populations in the world. Vaisakhi is an opportunity for Canadians to learn more about the Sikh community. It's also an opportunity to recognize the immense contributions the Sikh community has made to Canada's prosperity and growth.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Multiculturalism, I would like to wish peace, prosperity and happiness to all who celebrate Vaisakhi. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
