OTTAWA, May 8 2015 /CNW/ - We would like to congratulate Service Canada's Integrity Services Branch and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's (RCMP) Federal Operations Unit on their successful collaboration regarding the investigation of an Employment Insurance (EI) fraud scheme committed by Ryan Bear from Burnt Church, New Brunswick.
Investigations such as these are essential to building public trust and confidence in government. The Harper Government takes fraud very seriously and is committed to protecting our programs from potential abuse.
The Harper Government will continue to ensure that Canadians who have paid into the system can always access these benefits when they need them.
Protecting the EI Program is an important responsibility and we all have a role to play. Service Canada has an obligation to find and stop inappropriate claims.
