The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, invites Canadians to celebrate the 152nd anniversary of Confederation
OTTAWA, July 1, 2019 /CNW/ - Today is one of the best days of the year in Canada! On July 1, we unite to celebrate the 152nd anniversary of our Confederation. Canadians from across the country and around the world celebrate our history, achievements and the role we play in the world.
Canada Day presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate who we are: a diverse, bilingual, multicultural country that is the envy of the world.
We have so much of which to be proud! Canada is truly a reflection of the world. Our diversity is our strength and a tremendous source of pride. Our various cultural groups and communities have helped build a country that is open and inclusive, which that makes Canada a wonderful place to live.
At the same time, we acknowledge we have much work to do as part of our reconciliation efforts with Indigenous Peoples. We all have the responsibility to recognize the rights of Indigenous Peoples as well as learn more about Indigenous cultures and languages.
Learning about each other will create a shared sense of belonging and pride, so I invite you to enjoy the day with family and friends at a celebration in your community! Discover the activities happening nearest you using our interactive map.
Do you live in or are you visiting Canada's Capital Region? Have a look at the range of activities that are being held on Parliament Hill, Majors' Hill Park and the Canadian Museum of History. And don't forget, you can watch it all live here! There is something for everyone.
Happy Canada Day!
