Today in Canada and in other parts of the world, we celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colours
OTTAWA, March 21, 2019 /CNW/ - Today, Hindu communities in Canada and around the world celebrate Holi.
Also known as the Festival of Colours, Holi marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring. It is a time for celebrating peace, friendship and the triumph of good over evil—of light over darkness. Families and friends gather to sing, dance, light bonfires, and spray each other with water and coloured powders.
Celebrated throughout the country by Canadians of many different backgrounds, Holi gives us an opportunity to recognize the incredible contributions of Hindu Canadians to our society and learn more about their rich culture.
As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, I would like to wish everyone celebrating Holi a wonderful festival. Holi Hai!
