Statement by Preston Manning on the Passing of Jim Flaherty

CALGARY, April 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada has suffered a tragic loss today with the sudden passing of Jim Flaherty. Jim rendered an enormous service to our country by first working with Mike Harris to restore Ontario's finances, and then in guiding Canada's finances through and beyond the 2008 financial crisis. But Jim was much more than a skilled finance minister; he was a warm, generous and unflappable human being who was well liked and respected by friend and foe alike. It is, of course, Christine and the family who will feel this tragic loss most keenly. And it is especially to them that we offer our heartfelt sympathies and condolences.
