Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Congratulating Canadian Figure Skater Patrick Chan Français
OTTAWA, March 31, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, Patrick Chan celebrated a gold medal victory at his second consecutive World Figure Skating Championship in Nice, France. Well done, Patrick!
Already having set three world records, this dedicated athlete continues to amaze us with his skill and artistic finesse. This victory is a testimony to his passion for his sport—not to mention untold hours of hard work. He is an inspiration to us all.
Our country is a leading winter-sport nation—as we demonstrated at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This win takes us one step closer to another impressive finish at the next Olympic Winter Games.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I heartily congratulate world-champion figure skater Patrick Chan and his coach, Christy Krall, on this significant achievement.
