Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Congratulating Canadian Ice-Dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir
OTTAWA, March 30, 2012 /CNW/ - I am impressed by the talent, dedication, and steely determination of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, which allowed them to reclaim their world title in ice-dancing. Their gold-medal victory at the World Figure Skating Championships in Nice, France, yesterday has made Canada—and all Canadians—proud.
Our country is a leading winter-sport nation—as we demonstrated at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This victory bodes well for future success in Olympic standings.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I heartily congratulate world-champion ice-dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir and their coach, Marina Zoueva, on this milestone victory.
