Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Congratulating Justine Dufour-Lapointe on Winning Canada's First Gold Medal at Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Français
SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to extend my most heartfelt congratulations to Justine Dufour-Lapointe on winning Canada's first gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games today.
Justine Dufour-Lapointe from Montreal, Quebec earned her gold medal in the Women's Moguls event on the first day of competition. This is her first gold medal in this Olympic competition and first overall Olympic medal for Canada.
Justine's outstanding performance reminds us that Canada is a top sport nation, and our Government is proud to support our athletes with the tools they need to reach the podium at every possible opportunity.
Today, Canadians across our country are filled with pride and admiration at Justine's incredible talent, drive and strength as we celebrate this prestigious moment in her sport career.
I wish our Canadian Olympic Team much more success as competition continues in Sochi.
