Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Congratulating Rosie MacLennan on Winning Canada's First Gold Medal at the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games
LONDON, England, Aug. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to extend my most heartfelt congratulations to Rosie MacLennan for winning Canada's first gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games today.
Rosie MacLennan, from King City, Ontario earned her gold medal in the trampoline event on the ninth day of competition. This is her first gold medal in this Olympic competition and first overall Olympic medal.
Rosie's outstanding performance reminds us that Canada is a top sport nation, and our Government is proud to support our athletes with the tools they need to reach the podium at every possible opportunity.
Today, Canadians across our country are filled with pride and admiration at Rosie's incredible talent, drive and strength as we celebrate this prestigious moment in her sport career.
I wish our Canadian Olympic Team much more success as competition continues in London.
