Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Announcement of the Nominees to the 2012 Canadian Olympic Women's Basketball Team

OTTAWA, July 3, 2012 /CNW/ - As Minister of State (Sport), I am pleased to congratulate Canadian women's basketball athletes Natalie Achonwa, Chelsea Aubry, Miranda Ayim, Teresa Gabriele, Lizanne Murphy, Krista Phillips, Courtnay Pilypaitis, Michelle Plouffe, Kim Smith, Alisha Tatham, Tamara Tatham, and Shona Thorburn, who have earned their spots on the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team.

Not only are you an enormous source of pride for all Canadians, you serve as incredibly inspiring role models of excellent sportsmanship, determination and motivation for our children and youth.
