Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Occasion of RBC Sports Day in Canada

OTTAWA, Nov. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, I invite all Canadians to show their support for sport and physical activity by getting involved in RBC Sports Day in Canada. As our country's biggest celebration of sport, the day showcases sport at all levels, from our youngest fledgling sport participants to Canada's world-class athletes.

This year, RBC has taken on the role as title sponsor of the event alongside other supporters including the Government of Canada, ParticipACTION, True Sport, CBC Sports, and Radio-Canada Sports.

The Government of Canada is committed to providing opportunities for Canadians of all ages and all abilities to engage in sport and physical activity and to benefit from an active and healthy lifestyle. RBC Sports Day in Canada is one way for Canadians to renew their interest in sport and to make it part of their everyday lives.

I would like to thank all the communities across Canada that are taking part in RBC Sports Day in Canada, as well as everyone involved in making this day a success.

CBC Sports and Radio-Canada Sports will air today an RBC Sports Day in Canada special broadcast featuring live sport events, interviews with prominent sport figures, and panel discussions.
