Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport) on the occasion of the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships Français
LONDON, ON, March 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Once again, Canada's skaters have done themselves and Canadians proud with an impressive showing at the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario.
Having an opportunity to watch Canada's top skaters compete on home soil was an honour and something I won't soon forget. The performances of Patrick Chan (Gold Medal in Men's), Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (Silver Medal in Dance), and Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford (Bronze Medal in Pairs) have earned them a place on the podium and in our hearts.
As Minister of State (Sport) and on behalf of the Government of Canada, I want to thank the City of London, Skate Canada and all the volunteers who did a tremendous job organizing this competition. I would like to wish our figure skate team all the best on the road to Sochi and beyond.
