Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Occasion of the Endorsement of the 2012 Canadian Sport Policy Français
INUVIK, NT, June 27, 2012 /CNW/ - It is with great pleasure that today, I, along with my provincial and territorial colleagues responsible for sport, physical activity and recreation, endorsed the new Canadian Sport Policy (CSP) 2012.
The endorsement of the CSP 2012 is an important step towards encouraging Canadians to become more physically active and celebrating our country as a leading sport nation.
The CSP 2012 is the successor policy to the first ever Canadian sport policy, which was approved in Nunavut in 2002. The policy has been designed as a roadmap for all governments, institutions and organizations that are committed to contributing to the positive benefits and impacts of sport on Canadians.
The Harper Government is the single largest contributor to sport in this country, supporting participation and excellence from playground to podium.
