Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Occasion of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Français
KINGSTON, ON, Feb. 25, 2013 /CNW/ - I would like to congratulate the Ontario Team, skipped by Rachel Homan, on their victory at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to attend this very exciting tournament of Canadian Women's curling.
Events like this not only create interest and participation in the sport of curling, but also help create stronger, more vibrant communities.
As Minister of State (Sport), I also wish to thank the organizers and volunteers for their dedication in bringing the Scotties Tournament of Hearts to life. To the family, friends, coaches, and spectators, I want to thank you for your continued interest in this sport.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish skip Rachel Homan, lead Lisa Weagle, second Alison Kreviazuk, third Emma Miskew, alternate Stephanie LeDrew, coach Earle Morris, and consultant Natalie Durand-Bush all the best as they continue their pursuit of excellence at the 2013 World Women's Curling Championship in Riga, Latvia.
