Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Opening Ceremony of the Canadian Track and Field Trials Français
OTTAWA, June 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Congratulations to the athletes participating in the Canadian Track and Field trials being held in Calgary, Alberta. This important event is a selection trial for the nomination of athletes to the 2012 Canadian Olympic teams.
At the 2012 London Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, our Olympians and Paralympians will compete against the world's best. The accomplishments of our Canadian athletes will be an inspiration to Canadians of all ages and abilities.
As the single largest contributor to sport in this country, the Harper Government supports sport participation and excellence from the playground to the podium. We are very pleased to provide support for Athletics Canada, as well as continued support for Olympic sports and all of our amazing Canadian Olympic athletes.
