Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of the 2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize Français
OTTAWA, Oct. 31, 2012 /CNW/ - Canada is home to a host of talented authors who represent every region of the country and every literary genre. Their works entertain and enlighten us and are an integral part of our rich cultural heritage.
Every year, one of Canada's most distinguished literary awards, the Scotiabank Giller Prize, is presented to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English. I am delighted to congratulate this year's winner, Will Ferguson for his novel 419.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to acknowledge all the gifted creators who have distinguished themselves through the outstanding quality of their works and their commitment to arts and culture in Canada.
