Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Presentation of the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction Français
OTTAWA, March 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Authors of non-fiction works are able to transform our way of seeing at the world. Canada has many exceptional writers whose works give us the opportunity to explore a wide array of subjects and to expand our horizons.
The 11th Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction was awarded today to Andrew Westoll for his book The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary: A Canadian Story of Resilience and Recovery. Wade Davis, Charlotte Gill, J.J. Lee, Madeline Sonik, and were also among this year's finalists. The award is presented annually to a Canadian writer whose newly published work combines a superb command of the English language, an elegant style, and an original approach.
